Celebrating Autumn: Candy Apple Sunday

To kick off the Fall season we decided to celebrate with a candy-apple-making party! The idea was sparked when Nia found a recipe for a s'mores apple in Country Living magazine and gathered everyone together on Sunday afternoon to make the treats! We (Alex, Nia, Esther, Kelsey, Caley, Claire, and Oralia) all gathered at Melina's house bearing marshmallows, a pound of chocolate, graham crackers, and caramel chews to melt down and coat Granny Smith apples. The stovetop espresso-maker was put to use for the duration of the afternoon, with delicious iced lattes for everyone (3 parts whole milk, 1 part espresso, and ice). Little Henry and Little Sophia were hopping around tasting this and that, having a regular ole hey-day with the pans full of dulces. We all gathered around the community table Mast Brothers-style and created sweet/tart little confections on a stick. It was the perfect kickoff for the Fall season and all around the perfect day to share laughs and stories with friends!

Happy Autumn-ing!
